We were at the Blue Scorcher again. It was much busier. Most table spots were full.1 The staff, a bit surprised, overwhelmed yet steely determined,2 were moving about handing out soups and sandwiches.3
The place reminds me of The Red and Black Cafe in Portland, but softer, better dressed (lots of echo-chic) and less aggressive [...]

The *baked* Bread Collective.
As I have appointed myself the official scribe to the bread collective, yesterday Sean reported that the bread collective (still no name, they were thinking of *LifeBoat*) fired up the ovens and made their first set of *oat-cakes*, a local Astoria favorite. They will be on sale this tuesday at the Food Co-op.
Kris and I were discussing the latest happenings of the bread collective.
