On the curved corners of Marine and 8th, every Friday at 5pm, the 60’s is fought over and over again. On both sides, stale signs fight the last war. Both groups no longer even stare at each other - may not even speak the same words with any sort of shared context.1

We were at the Blue Scorcher again. It was much busier. Most table spots were full.1 The staff, a bit surprised, overwhelmed yet steely determined,2 were moving about handing out soups and sandwiches.3
